Because the only thing better than a 1959 Cackillack is a slammed and chopped 1959 Cackillack.

Old American land yachts can pull off this look far better than anything else out there. I'm just not sure why that is.

Fuselage body styling. We're so used to looking at airplanes that, by reducing the visibility of the tire, it appears as if the car is 'floating'. Therefore, cars that use airplane design and body construction techniques (known as "fuselage body styling') make the mind think of an airplane floating on the road, recalling any beautiful images the mind has seen of airplanes. That sort of uniqueness ("airplane on the road? what?") is a novelty, and the mind likes novelty in art.

I want the gold one. A 4 door '59. Or a 2 door '59 convertible but that can get really expensive.

That's the best looking cadillac over there. Ever.
Cien comes in second.

Ehhhhhhh I think it's too much low for me.
I do love the insanity of such a ginormous car only having two doors. These old Caddys are amazing.

Biggest (!) reason is probably because they are so freakin long. Since they are so long, they can be a little more reasonably off the ground and still look slammed. It's all about proportion.

Like this?
I kid, but yours is a great explanation. I'm particularly fascinated with aviation of that era, as were so many others back in those days. It only made sense for Detroit to capitalize on that fascination.

A lot of new art is just playing on the art that people have already seen.

The next acquisition on my "want" list is the elusive '59 convertible in bright white!
